Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi
Afghanistan and Bangladesh meet in a five-day Test at Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi from 9 to 13 October 2026. Each day is scheduled to begin at 06:00 GMT, which is 10:00 AM in the UAE.
Rahmat Shah leads Afghanistan in the one-off red-ball contest, with Hashmatullah Shahidi and Afsar Zazai adding experience to the batting group. Bangladesh are captained by Najmul Hossain Shanto and bring an established Test core featuring Mushfiqur Rahim, Mominul Haque, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam.
The teams have met twice in Test cricket and shared the results, one win apiece. Conditions in Abu Dhabi should place a premium on patience, first-innings runs and disciplined spin bowling as the pitch wears across five days.

Afghanistan vs Bangladesh Only Test Match Information
The one-off Test will be played at Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi from 9 to 13 October 2026. Play is scheduled to begin at 06:00 GMT or 10:00 AM UAE time each day.
Afghanistan vs Bangladesh Only Test Match Preview
Afghanistan’s batting will look to Rahmat Shah and Hashmatullah Shahidi for long, composed innings. Afsar Zazai and Ikram Alikhil provide wicketkeeping options, while Qais Ahmad and Zia-ur-Rehman give the side spin choices suited to a dry UAE surface.
Bangladesh arrive with a familiar red-ball batting core. Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque offer experience around captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz strengthens both the middle order and the spin attack.
Taijul Islam could be central to Bangladesh’s plans if the surface becomes slower and offers more turn later in the match. Afghanistan, meanwhile, will want their seamers to make an early impact before the spinners take on a larger workload.
The final playing elevens will be confirmed at the toss. With no return Test in this series, both teams have one opportunity to control the match and settle their red-ball contest in Abu Dhabi.
Afghanistan vs Bangladesh Test Series 2026
This is the only Test in Bangladesh’s tour of Afghanistan in the UAE. The neutral venue in Abu Dhabi gives both sides a demanding five-day contest in conditions where batting time, reverse swing and spin can all shape the result.
Afghanistan and Bangladesh have won one Test each in their two previous meetings. The level record adds clear context to a standalone match that will produce a series winner if the weather allows a result.
